Pressed for time? VIPSATV offers a 24-hour trial, no card needed.
IPTV Smarters Pro is a free player, so the only running cost is the subscription you log into it, and that is the figure worth comparing.
The short answer to most IPTV Smarters UK questions: the app is the window, the subscription is the view. The player is published by WHMCS Smarters and offered as a free download. It holds no channels of its own. It shows whatever a service’s login hands it, and that service is what you pay for every month or every term.
What IPTV Smarters UK searches are really asking
Three separate costs get lumped together under one app name, and only one of them recurs.
- The player. A free download from the publisher or your device’s store. No channels, no content.
- The subscription. The recurring cost. Each service quotes it on its own plan page.
- The device. A one-off purchase, and often something already under the television.
So a search for an IPTV Smarters Pro price has a dull answer: the player itself costs nothing to download, and any price you see next to its name belongs to a subscription. If a seller asks you to pay for the app, ask what you are actually buying.
The separation is useful. Because the login is the only link between app and service, you can drop a service after its trial and keep the same player, the same favourites layout and the same remote habits.

How a login works: Xtream Codes versus an M3U URL
Every service gives you one of two kinds of login for a player like Smarters, and MAG boxes use a third arrangement entirely.
| Login type | What you enter | What the player receives | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xtream Codes | Server address, username, password | Live channels, films and series as separate sections, usually with the guide | Most setups in Smarters |
| M3U URL | One playlist link | The whole list in one file; the guide may need its own EPG link | Players without Xtream support, quick checks |
| MAG portal | Portal URL on the box; the service registers the box’s MAC address | Handled by the box’s own menus | MAG boxes, not Smarters |
What is an Xtream IPTV subscription?
“Xtream” is not a service you buy. It is the name of a login format that started life as server management software and became the common language most players understand. An Xtream IPTV subscription is simply a subscription whose login arrives as those three fields. The same three fields work in Smarters, in most other players and, with a different menu, on some set-top boxes. What you receive does not change with the app, because the list and the streams come from the service’s server.
An M3U URL carries the same list as one long address. It is handy as a fallback, but it breaks easily when an email client wraps it across two lines. Copy it from the service’s account page rather than from the email.
Installing IPTV Smarters Pro on a Firestick
The Firestick is a common starting point. The route depends on whether the app is listed in the Amazon Appstore for your device at the time you look, since store availability has changed over the years.
IPTV Smarters Pro Firestick install, step by step
- Search the Amazon Appstore for IPTV Smarters Pro. If it is listed, install it and skip to step 5. Store installs update themselves, which is worth more than it sounds.
- If it is not listed, install Downloader from the Appstore. It is a free app that fetches a file from a web address you type.
- Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options, and allow Install unknown apps for Downloader. On older menus this reads Apps from Unknown Sources and sits under Device. If Developer Options is missing, Amazon’s documentation says to open Settings, My Fire TV, About and select the device name seven times.
- In Downloader, type the download address shown on the publisher’s own website, install the file, then delete the file to free space.
- Open the app, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, and fill in the fields as described below.
Only install the player from its store listing or its publisher. Modified copies from file-sharing pages are how unwanted software ends up on a stick.
Setting it up on other devices
The login is identical everywhere; only the install route changes.
- Android phones and Android TV boxes: install from Google Play where listed, or from the publisher’s download page.
- iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: check the App Store; the publisher’s listing there has changed names over time, so search for the publisher as well as the app.
- Windows and Mac: the publisher’s website lists desktop builds.
- MAG boxes: these do not run Smarters. They take a portal address instead, covered in our TVIP and MAG box guide.
If you have not settled on hardware, the device comparison sets out what each type needs, and the Firestick guide goes further on players and settings for the stick.
Logging in and the first load
The Xtream screen asks for four things: any name you like for the profile, the username, the password and the server URL. Enter the server exactly as sent, keeping the http:// or https:// at the start and any port number such as :8080 at the end. A trailing space in that field is a common reason a correct login fails.
The first load pulls the channel list and the guide, and a long list takes a while. Two things shorten it. First, use the account page every service here provides to trim the channel list down to the groups you watch before the list reaches the player. Second, set favourites inside Smarters for the channels you open weekly. VIPSATV’s account page also lets you name each connection, which helps when one plan covers several screens.
What the subscription behind it costs
The verdict before the figures: VIPSATV has the lowest price at one and three months, RoomateTV has the lowest per-month price from six months onward, and Streamtion is the dearest over the long terms. Prices come from each service’s plan page, and each lists one price per term, so the listed price is also the renewal price.
| Service | 1 month | 3 months | 6 months | 12 months | 24 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIPSATV | £11.99 | £28.99 (£9.66/mo) | £47.99 (£8.00/mo) | £66.99 (£5.58/mo) | £93.99 (£3.92/mo) |
| RoomateTV | £13.99 | £31.99 (£10.66/mo) | £44.99 (£7.50/mo) | £62.99 (£5.25/mo) | £89.99 (£3.75/mo) |
| Clixwatch | £14.99 | £34.99 (£11.66/mo) | £57.99 (£9.67/mo) | £80.99 (£6.75/mo) | £112.99 (£4.71/mo) |
| Streamtion | £14.99 | £36.99 (£12.33/mo) | £60.99 (£10.17/mo) | £82.99 (£6.92/mo) | £116.99 (£4.87/mo) |
Some arithmetic worth doing. Twelve rolling months of VIPSATV at £11.99 comes to £143.88, against £66.99 for the 12-month plan, a difference of £76.89. On RoomateTV the same comparison is £167.88 against £62.99. The long plans only pay off if you actually see them out, so run the 24-hour trial first, then a single month through Smarters on your own broadband, then commit.
VIPSATV is worth a look if the monthly price suits, and RoomateTV if you already know you want six months or more. Both issue logins that go straight into the Xtream screen. The full side-by-side is on our value ranking, and the monthly versus annual comparison works through where each term starts to pay.
Common problems that are not the app
Many faults blamed on Smarters sit in the login or the connection.
- “Invalid credentials”: retype the username and password, then check the server URL for a missing http:// or port.
- Guide loads, nothing plays: count the screens in use. A one-connection plan plays on one screen at a time.
- Guide blank: give it a few minutes after the first login, then refresh the guide from the app’s settings.
- Sluggish menus on an older stick: trim the channel list on the account page; the hardware is struggling with the list size.
- Stutter at your usual viewing hour only: put the device on Ethernet, then judge the service during its trial at that same hour.
If a login that worked yesterday fails today, check the plan’s expiry date on the account page before reinstalling anything.
What to do next
Install IPTV Smarters Pro from your device’s store or its publisher. That part costs nothing and takes no judgement. The decision that matters is the service: take a 24-hour trial at the hour you normally watch, see how the list loads and plays through Smarters on your own line, and only then choose a term. Our free trial guide covers what to check in those 24 hours, and the safe purchase guide covers paying.
Worth setting up if one free player across a mixed set of screens suits you; the subscription is where the comparing gets done.
Worth knowing
The app and the subscription are separate things
Most confusion about IPTV Smarters pricing comes from treating the player and the service as one product. The player is software that reads a list of streams. The list, the channels and the guide data all come from the service whose login you type in.
That split works in your favour. If a service disappoints during its trial, you keep the same player and point it somewhere else. You never rebuy the app to change the service.
It also explains a warning sign. A seller who charges you for the player itself, rather than for a subscription, is charging for something the publisher gives away.
What decides how quickly the list loads
On first login the player downloads the channel list and the programme guide. A list with tens of thousands of entries takes longer to pull and to sort than a small one, and a device with little memory feels it most.
Two things help: trim the channel groups on the service's account page before the list reaches the player, and put the device on a wired connection where you can. If loading stays slow on a newer device over Ethernet, the delay is on the service's side, which is exactly what the free trial is for finding out.
Common questions
Is IPTV Smarters Pro free in the UK?
The publisher offers the player as a free download. Store listings differ by platform and change over time, so check the listing for your device before installing. The money you spend on IPTV goes on the subscription you log into it, not on the player.
How do I get IPTV Smarters Pro on a Firestick?
Search the Amazon Appstore first. If it is not listed for your device, turn on unknown-app installs for Downloader under Settings, My Fire TV, Developer Options, then type the download address shown on the publisher's own website into Downloader. Do not install copies from anywhere else.
What is an Xtream IPTV subscription?
It is an ordinary IPTV subscription whose login is issued in the Xtream Codes format: a server address, a username and a password. Xtream is a login format, not a brand. The services compared on this site issue logins that work in standard players either this way or as an M3U URL.
Should I use the Xtream Codes login or the M3U URL?
Either works. The Xtream login lets the player request live channels, films and series as separate sections, and the programme guide normally comes with it. An M3U URL is one long link holding the whole list, and the guide may need a separate EPG address. Use Xtream where it is offered.
Can I switch services without reinstalling the app?
Yes. Add a new user profile inside the app with the new login, or delete the old one. The player keeps no tie to any one service, which is the main advantage of a separate player.
Does IPTV Smarters Pro work on more than one screen?
The app installs on as many devices as you like. How many screens can play at the same time is set by the subscription's connection count, so check how many connections your plan includes before sharing one login around the house.
